Looks good to me Sam, but i think WalkWolf is the man you want to talk to.
Phill
The handle and cross guards look alot newer than the rest of it to me.

I noticed that the 2nd time i looked at the pics Eric the cross guards look a little "gilded" and a bit too new
I thought the ss emblem might be a little off center??
Thanks for the plug Phill, but I am no 'expert'. Photos with flash are not the greatest !
A 'later' type, the crossguards might be plated, but they look very bright in comparison
to the scabbard fittings and the blade. ( I believe the 'gilt' effect that Phill sees is only
reflection ) Insignia looks ok. Overall it seems to have been cleaned and polished.
Steel wool may have been used on the grip - is it made of wood ? The grip
might have been altered to accept these crossguards.
The fit of handguards to grip is not bad, but check the fit against the scabbard
throat and lower guard - there should be no gap. Please wait for more
comments as these are only first impressions - an 'in-hand' look
is better than photographs.........
Regards,
Steve.
I cannot really add much more to what has already been said.
Basically an original dagger. Looks suspiciously like someone does not know what way around it goes in the scabbard...
Pics showing the blade in the scabbard, the right way around, are important. A parts dagger will often not fit correctly.
Cheers, Ade.
