Beautiful helmet, Ade. That liner is making me sad! What is red rot exactly, some kind of fungus?

Hi Guys, thanks for the comments.

Red Rot is down to a problem caused when the leather was originally tanned. Nothing can be done....

    Cheers, Ade.

Hi Doug, I know you and Frank et al like to know lot numbers for your database. Just taken a look and it appears to be DN304.

    Cheers, Ade.

Thanks very much Ade! Again, wonderful helmet. I have yet to find one with a newspaper inside it, something every helmet collector would love to have!

Cracking lid Ade, fantastic to have some background to the item too. Just adds to the value for me (in a collector's way of appreciation that is!), so a very special lid indeed. Fascinating to have the newspaper present too, just a damn shame about the "red-rot". Thanks for sharing it with us all.

    Regards,

    Carl
