Sorry to wake up an old thread, but what exactly is a "corpses cut"? Is that where they cut the chinstrap to remove the helmet? I've seen pictures of US graves registration collecting gear helmets, packs and such to be reissued to healthy troops. Did the Germans not do this?
Yes, this phrase refers to removing it from a fallen soldier. I am sure the German Army reissued kit. But they would not cut the chinstrap like this.

this is cut at an angle probably done by the welsh vet taken as a trophy from the dead ss soldier
