I'm looking at purchasing the following helmet, I've done research and still am uncertain about its authenticity even after asking another collector (which their answer was it is an original). Please let me know what you think. Thanks!!

Also, Seller is located in Germany, and has over 3k transactions completed with nearly 100% feedback if it means anything. Price is $2700 (which seems too good to be true to me).

I don't see anything there that is comforting. From these pics I'd say bad decal, paint, and liner. Long half of chinstrap looks okay as does the shell itself.

But welcome to the forum anyway!

    Cheers,

What exactly is wrong with the decal? I'm new to helmets and would like to know what details to look for. Thank you!!

Everything is wrong with it. Construction, graphics, pulver, you name it, it is all wrong. As is the liner and paint.

Compare with the 3rd decal down and it is obvious

Your more than welcome. Those 2 threads I think are good starting points for anyone trying to get into the SS helmet genre. I would also buy Kelly Hicks book SS Steel V2

Hi and welcome to the forum. Good advice as ever from Doug, and as Terry has said, this one is most definitely not an original SS helmet. Leon.
