    I got this week from a friend this metalsearched M40
    It seem Painted ET grey with ET Style SS decal
    The ET68 is visible
    It is a little bit cracked but in relative good condition
    He found it in Holland a week before

    From the photos it looks more like a silver/gun metal grey and not Feldgrau.

    That's not the correct ET factory color , probably chemicals to clean the surface altered the look of the helmet.

    I've seen Oxalic acid change color, generally to a lighter color. This is more pronounced than I have seen before though. Could also be the lighting as well.

    Hi Bavarian,

    You should try taking photos in the daylight. It will be helpful in evaluating the colours.

    Can we see the inside too?

    Has your friend touched the helmet in anyway such as Oxalic acid as suggested above by MAP?

    Thanks for the additional picture Bavarian

    The interior photo appears to show a little bit of a dark remaining feldgrau near the front visor and side. I agree with what Frank and MAP said in relation to chemicals perhaps changing the original colour.

    An interesting relic to have in a larger size.
