Was looking for a combat SS helmet, one that just screamed "been there" for my war room to complete what I call "Combat Corner", something salty but still presentable.

I thought the perfect helmet was the M35 DD Heer reissue to SS that I saw listed for some time. It is a rare setup, reissued with a painted over Heer decal and the SS decal running about 50% over top the tricolor.

The helmet was an M35 DD Heer which was named to a Mecklenburg and reissued to the SS or the soldier was a late war draftee to the WSS as was common when the SS were gearing up for the Wacht Am Rhein operation. The runic decal is a correct CA Pocher which is what should be on a reissued helmet such as this. It is lot number 4322 and coincidentally enough there is another SS which is also a reissue which shares this lot number, a reverse runic DD SS out there that was also reissued with Pochers. Both have 1939 liners (no I do not own the lot number twin, that would be very cool however ).

There is a ton of wear and tear to the dome, decals and paint in general that screams been there and is just a fun helmet to hold and examine and wonder where its been and what it saw.

It is by far the saltiest helmet I own but for this corner I hope you agree its the perfect fit! Thanks for looking everyone. I call this my "combat corner" of my display room.

    Doug-
A very interesting helmet. I can understand why you added this to your collection. One must wonder if this was issued to a young recruit in one of the later formed SS divisions. Thanks for sharing.
