It looks like the decal is applied over pitting to me. I wouldn't go for it. Also looks like a Quist shell, and doesn't really look right for a Quist decal from the shape.

just like to no from people who no more about these things than me, i like to no if its a real ss helmet? and if so what would it sell for not that im looking to get rid

As collector provenance is important may I ask how did you acquire the helmet 16 years ago? The decal is so far gone that with 99% of SS relics I see photos of its impossible to give any kind of opinion but your photos of the decal are lacking in clarity. Take macro shots (flower icon) of the decal and make sure they are without flash glare and are in focus, thanks.

From a fair in France with a few other bits. But where it came from before that i don't no.
