    Default M35 Double Decal SS Helmet - Q66 - Lot # 1944

I have had this one for many years, not the best, but okay I guess. It appears to have been repainted and refit with a steel banded liner after 1940. When it was refurbished the decals were covered and it is apparent that when they were liberated the nit wit used steel wool, and clearly did not do such a good job. I guess what I like most about this one is the lot number - "1944". (In the data base at GHW2 I think there is an M35 Q66 with this lot number that is listed as a Luft helmet.) I guess all that can be said about this one is that it is somewhat representative. Jim G.

Unbelievable. Jim, I feel like crying right about now LOL. M
seriously, as you say a very representative example and a one looker Q. Nice to point out for those that misuse lot numbers that another in this series is a LW, seemingly to happen with Q's as well.

Doug, I have a lid coming shortly that underlines that point about lot numbers too. Never a definite answer, just a guide at best.

Jim that's a real nice helmet despite the work of the well meaning smeghead that rubbed the decals. It could be a lot worse, and looks like it could almost be natural wear. Not too shabby at all mate

Thank you Gentlemen. I agree Andy, at times it does look like it could almost be natural wear. It reminds me of a line from a movie that I am embarrassed to say I actually enjoyed (Clueless). This one is like a Monet, from a distance it is pleasing to the eye, but up close, its a MESS! (paraphrased) Cheers, Jim G.

A nice looking one, even with the decal liberation. Also an interesting liner - looks to be spliced in two places, with a section either side of the stitching?

Would be more than happy to have that one on my shelf

It's really not all that bad looking, Jim. A nice one for the shelf.

Hi Jim , even though it has been given the stupid "wool" treatment it really does not look that bad and at least you know it is a genuine Q SS helmet. I think it's a nice lid! Leon.
