Odd...the white part of the decal is chipped/flaking but the SS ruins are still there
"Please", Thank You" and proper manners appreciated

As ever, always buy the item, not the story! A provenance is great, but it has to marry up with the item on offer. Leon.
Possibly the best piece of advice for any collector that...speaking from one who has personally fallen for a colourful back story on an item only to be disappointed later.

Yep, and the important thing is you lick your wounds, make sure you learn from the experience, and don't let it put you off

I guess the one on the photo would be an interesting variation but it's far from similar in design to the rather cartoonish "Spock" type decal on the helmet posted here.

Hi, definitely not the same type of decal, and as Doug points out in the WAF thread, the camera glare has distorted the image of a good decal. Leon.

Those runes look mighty skinny though, can't see glare affecting that element of the image. Still, Doug knows his decals.

What I was thinking after initially commenting as well --- flash illuminates the metallic texture surrounding the black runes creating a glare that obscures some of the outer border of the runes on all sides--- voila, an illusion of narrow looking runes is created.

No matter how you look at it though, the decal presented here is not related at all to this photo posted over on WAF.
