probably big shrapnel. Helmet comes from Warsaw in Poland

We find quite a few of helmets with damage like that in graves. IMO shell shock. Just a fall from a height or a hard hit will not crack the helm like this; it will just dent it.

You have posted this helmet in a category "SS HELMET CATEGORY". A past member took a lot of his time & efforts to show various examples of SS decals & identified makers/shell ID.

I am not trying to be insulting or insinuating anything. You seem to be confused about SS decals. Why not take a look at the thread on SS decals & you compare.
That is the only way to learn. Maybe one day you can offer opinions on SS decals yourself.

I will offer one clue...It will be either the ET style or the Pocher style for this ET helmet you have. Look & see if yours compares to the posted examples
