Hi Minimi, wlcome to the forum!
You are right to be concerned about the decal. It is indeed a fake. The size of the runes etc is wrong.
Cheers, Ade.
The decal looks like a hand painted, Ade is right- wrong dimensions, also looks like the paint is scratced before the decal applied

thank you for the comments. I have been comparing also with SS Helmets and looks like this decal is weird. from what I know, decal is like a sticker, but this one is painted..
but what about the shell, is the shell at least authentic ?
and how to remove this fake decal is it is hand painted ?
cheers
You can easily find undecaled one for approx 400 USD, and don't need to buy one with fake decal wich must be not a cheap one

well the problem is, that helmet is mine already..
it looks like the shell and liner are original
but the decal isn't, so I think I want to remove the decal.
any idea how, Dimas ?
try acetone , rgds dave
The rest looks to be ok but the glare from the light can make the photo misleading as far as the paint is concerned. Take a photo in natural light during the day of course.
It's very disturbing when people try to make a helmet what it is not. Even if were an original late m42 ss helmet they are not doing anyone a favor by adding a decal a poor recreation at that.
Otherwise it look great.
rgds, Ty
