Hmm, it looks like the name has been added post-war, not quite sure about the decal though...

Looking for militaria from HKB 31./977, HKB 32./977, HKB 38./977 or militaria related to Norway
I like the looks of it! The name could be something added but to me the name looks period the SS is what looks out of place. It looks as if the rust is under the decal and the surface rust looks to be in the same state of oxidation under the decal which one would not expect to see. However if it is a fake decal they went a little too overboard aging it which makes me think its ok...I would consider it for my collection I like it!
Txnx, i beleve to that the SS writing may be post war but the name and the rest of the lid valid. It belonged to a swede called Anders Skötte, who Im told is sort of an expert in luftwaffe helmets, he wrote a book about it. But I have never herd of him before. Anyone else knows about this kid?
Yeah I know of him he wrote German Luftwaffe Flight Headgear: A Collector's Guide I do not own the book but it has a sketch of a luftwaffe pilot on the front and I think it is a pretty good book. I'll look and see if I can find one online...
Yep found a copy for $25 here...
