Default Is this a real SS helmet?

I went to my local auctioneers today and found this SS helmet. I'm 99% sure it's real, I've checked through the threads showing known fake decals and I can't find one the same. I asked my uncles sisters cousins friend who is an expert (he's watched 3/4 of 'A bridge too far' and knew somebody who was a cook in the war - he was also chief historic advisor to U-571) and he says it's genuine without even looking at it. My only concern is that I think it has been painted with a paint brush and I'm not sure paint brushes were invented back then.
What do you think? Should I go for it? My budget is 1500 - if I could get some opinions (preferably from somebody with no previous posts) confirming its genuine I would be obliged.

Does it have a C. Snyder COA? If so, then you are good to go!

No unfortunately not (I hear he's quite selective with what he authenticates) but it does have the name Himmler on the inside! I'm not stupid enough to think it's Heinrich's, might be a cousin though.
