    Default SS helmet

    G'day gents,
I have a mate here in Perth that has this ss helmet shell, he thinks it is authentic and as I haven't a clue I thought I'd post his pics here and ask for the opinions of those that will know. These are the only pics I have at present but I can get more from him if needed but from the straight on pic how does the decal look fellas?

    Cheers,

Ok, just heard from Doug, the decal is fake and the helmet lot number was never issued to ss. Bloody convincing decal though, easy to see how people get caught out!

That's too bad Dave. It would have been a lovely addition if legit.

Good thing Ken N has a new book coming just on decals.

For the life of me, try as I might, I cannot master decals.

I agree Michael, my eyes are just not that good, even when I have differences pointed out to me half the time I cant see them! I now have the unenviable task of letting my mate know his helmet is fake, its a shame as he's an honest lad who's been caught out.

At least you can tell him that is was vetted by one of the best helmet guys out there and not some armchair guy like me with just an opinion.

Has he any chance of a refund?? Hopefully he bought from an honest dealer.... I too was caught out some years ago....didn't get a refund either.....BUT it sure has taught me a very costly lesson....Not all dealers are what they appear. Good Luck

Hi Dave, I am guessing that this is trying to be either an ET or "Champaign" decal, but it is sadly neither. The breaks to the shield are not correct and the runes level/position is also out. Leon.
