SS helmets are a very sensitive subject due to their value.You need to provide better pics of the decal hopefully using day light conditions ..no flash.

Ahhh, But would they know a real one if they saw one?

One thing that always interests me. When i started collecting in the 70's. SS helmets were rare as hens teeth, and camo ones all the more so. Today, there are an abundace of helmets to choose from, and i'm sorry to say that 99% of them are fakes, or high end fakes.

Think of this....... A few years ago you could pick up a nice un-decaled M42 helmet for a reasonable price, where are they now? all sitting there with artificially aged decals, trying to be something they are not. To be honest an M42 helmet with an SS decal? yeah, sure its possible, but in that sort of condition? highly unlikely, you see it becomes a target when in action, a nice spot to hit someone when picking them off.

I'm no expert, i never try to say i am, but i have to have good instincts, and i would run away from this one. Phil, you're right of course, maybe its the way the photo has been taken, but it looks out of proportion. When you've handled the few real ones about, you tend to get a feel for them. Of course, i could be wrong. But everything has to viewed as a fake, until proven otherwise
