Ss ??? Helmet(opinions)

Hello one and all,a reclamation dealer i know has this helmet for sale for £1500.I have told him that in my opinion it is a decent M42 made by the SE concern but it has a FAKE ss decal. As SS material is not my field i said i would get him a second opinion about the decal, and i am happy to be proved wrong for his sake.Having not come accross to many ORIGINAL decals in my time i would like to know if my instincts are correct about this being a FAKE! It looks to me as though the "rusting" on the decal is a part of it's aged look and not genuine decay from behind the decal, Thanks in advance. P.S, THESE ARE THE ONLY PICTURES THAT I HAVE AT THE MOMENT.

Decal is a fake Pocher. SE M40 SS lids are very rare, and this one ain't one of them.

Interesting. I thought it was the M40. Is it the M35 SE that are rare?

Doug, I just went through K.Hicks SS Steel (updated edition), and on page 257 the book claims that one existed. Was that particular helmet later evaluated as a reproduction or post war applied decal?
