Dimas is quite right. Showing a swastika publically will get you into serious trouble. You may own items with a Hakenkreuz, though, if you keep them for yourself and behave decently with them. With our history, these laws are necessary, but we aren't taking them too serious. I've got lots of things with swastikas on them and never had any problems with them. But, being a historian I wouldn't have any problems in proving that I use these as historical items of interest of a specific scientific value, if somebody inquired.
Yes, I do own quite a lot of German items. My main collecting interest are steel helmets. I "collect internationally", the aim is to have one - at least! - of each model that was ever produced. Very ambitious aim, I'm quite aware of that, and I don't think I will ever succeed but it's good fun trying.
Yes, there are many Imperial, Wehrmacht, Bundeswehr, Feuerwehr and Polizei helmets around here, and in all possible states of condition. Some are very expensive, some aren't.
