I am not sure that "second pattern" runes were on period transitionals, so I would seek an opinion from an SS helmet expert, Hicks, or maybe Bill Shea, before spending alot of money on this shell. Check the reference books to see if there are any period pictures, but I don't recall seeing any in the books that I have on my shelf. Compare the party shield to pictures in the reference books as well to make sure that the dimensions are correct. My quick look leaves me with the impression that the jury is out on this one, but it does not look good for the defense. Jim G.

Hi,
I'm not an expert at all...but I don't like the different shape of the 2 runes...seems one is bigger than the other one. It is common in some fakes. Just my impression..
