    Hello I doubt whether it is a M35, m40 or M42.
    I can see the remains of SS initials.
    It is a small size

    M42. The decals look poor and they should not be on both sides.

    M42 but the SS "stuff" is postwar.

    Looks to have been a nice no-decal M42, that's been poorly dolled up post war sadly.

    Police helmets can be double decal on an M42.

    Now thats strange ....
    I picked this helmet up in Arnhem in 1986 ...
    It was not brought as an SS helmet, and in fact, I did not see where the flashes had been removed till I got back to my hotel.

    On talking to some Dutch friends, examples like this have been known to be associated with the Dutch SS volunteers ...

    .. As of yet though, I have seen no photographic evidence to support this.
    The flashes on mine are on both sides, and seem to have been painted through a template.

    The helmet is an ET62 and the batch number looks like 2138.
