One of my favorites in my collection I wanted to share with you. Here's a helmet that started its life as an SS Allgemeine parade/ceremonial helmet. Its a commercially produced "Droop Bill" style helmet that was later in the war refurbished to possibly Volksturm or night Flak. I had Kelly Hicks look at the SS decal and feels it was actually period removed by either the SS or the new branch it was issued. Overall an interesting piece of SS history.

A special thanks to DougB, DarrylP and Kelly Hicks who helped me determine the helmets history.

    Regards
    Samir

I'm not sure why I didn't see this thread before, but that is a really nice helmet Samir. I can see an old man wearing this during the last days of the war, all dirty, tired, and downtrodden.

    Salam ma'ak!

Its funny that u mention that, because I thought of the same exact thing as I was going through period photos of the volkssturm.

Very nice Samir, Here's a couple graphic images, the first is of two Volksturm . One old man and one child..the former could have worn this very fine helmet you have.
    Thanks for sharing!
