Hello, it appears to be authentic but the finish is troubling to me. It almost seems as if it has been painted at one time. The finish usually wears off through time but I have never seen one with peeling chips. I would wait for one of the resident experts to give you a definitive answer. Also if you could provide close-up photo's it would be very helpful. In the meantime here are some examples from my collection, front and back with different finishes to compare visually with this one.

The one below is a slightly different variety but I posted it because it has similar white finish. Notice how mine is worn off not chipped or peeling
