I have a couple ground dug Totenkopfs myself, and I have to say, this just looks way to nice to be dug. The pins are not all distorted from being ripped off the hat or it is not lacking a pin or both,suggesting the skull fell off the hat.There is no damage or decay at all,which is very unlikely. I am not saying that this wasn't dug, I am just skeptical. Also the pin attatchment itself looks a little hokey to me.

Condition of dug depend on type of soil.
If it be a sand sometimes dug are looking almost like new.
In heavy mineralized soil grunt artefact is sometimes heavy damaged.
