There is no such thing as an "M36" eagle. The pattern dates actually from 1935, as we have demonstrated on this site. I do not know if the object is real. This badge came into wide spread use the year after its design.

Congratulations on the acquisition of a nice piece. My point, though perhaps too subtle, regards nomenclature, since this badge was actually conceived and designed in 1935. Ergo, the contract number from the VA with a three digit number and the date of same that mystifies collectors. A rare and interesting badge, and no less significant for its lack of numerals and such on the back.
