Default original zimmerman totenkopf with replaced pins?

Hi guys first post. I purchased this skull pin badge on a bit of a whim, on closer inspecion the badge itself looks to me to be genuine, (no casting marks, good detail etc.) the trouble is with the pins, they seem a brighter colour than the rest, also wasnt sure if they should be flat or round, pointed or not. any help on this would be much appreciated.

ah well thats not good im struggling to see much difference to be honest. i know zimmerman had two different pin attachments the round type being late war. maybe my eyes aren't cut out for this. any pointers as to what to look for?

    thanks guys

Like the guys said, sift through the many threads about these pricey little cap skulls on the Forum here and you'll find Plenty of great original examples to examine in detail. Look them over and note the differences between the various manufacturers and styles and you'll get a good idea of what genuine pieces look like and what fakes-both poorly made and Well made-look like as well! This Forum is better than any reference book you can find-and it's Free!
