Hi guys,
Do you trust this one?
Looks forced to look older than it is as per me.

May I ask why you feel it looks off?

LIFE'S LOSERS NEVER LEARN FROM THE ERROR OF THEIR WAYS.
Hi Bob, sorry, my mistake starting the thread in the wrong area.
Hi
youthcollector1 - I think like this because of the backing, and the front side is not so detailed ( IMO )
Like in this picture.
But in the end, I'm not sure and that is why i wanted to share it

There were many different makers of this "skull" How do you know the one on the hat is of the same maker? I am not expert when it comes to these, maybe someone else can comment?

You must have very good pictures in high resolution to make a definitive opinion on this one. The pins could just have been replaced, so ask or make better pictures of this piece.
This doesn't look like a good M1/52 Deschler skull to me.
All the best
Doug
Hi

Hi George
In my opinion skull looks orginal and this is Deschler skull.
But for sure someone attached Assman type pins and they are not orginal for this type skull.
Peter
The Deschler skull must be one of the most documented skulls ever.
This one does not match any of the detail of an original.
The skull I assume looks to be made from aluminium? I would expect to see two crimped in prongs. The painted finish has been seen on originals but in this case the paint has rubbed off on the obverse yet the stamping still looks to have little detail.
I don't like the flattened Mi/52 stamp
The prongs in my opinion are incorrect and have not been replaced as the patina of the solder looks to be the same as the whole vista of the reverse.
I am sticking with my opinion that this is a 70s dud
All the best
Doug
