SS collar patch and Totenkopf skull.

The title sounds very good.
But I like to show my two worst deals during 3years of building my small collection.
Number one is fake SS collar patch.
I paid for it 130$ (now the pain is smal-this was 3 years ago)
Number two is SS skull
I paid for it 40 $ (not so painful)
In skull case I was thinking 50 % its will be good.
Because I saw only couple pics.
Now when i have it the thru is horrible (: (he he I am joking,not so bad)
Now everybady have to know the dark secrets of my small collection.
The light side I will post later.

Can you tell us how you found out they were fakes?... We're all trying to learn here!

I guess their are fake because my frehd told me the collar tab is fake.
Because im not expert in collar tabs \i belive him.
Maybe he want bought it,who nows.
Skull have best patin wchitch I saw in my life but i dont like the back no marks proofs strange pins connections etc.
OK my friends if somebody tell me the thru bad or gut I will be happy,

The tab is terribly made. You need to look at the material it was made on and the weave of the runes. Study originals here on the forum and you'll know what i am talking about.

The skull looks to be a heavy casting, that would be my warning sign right there. The runes look to have a very loose thread weave and a dodgy tag.
As always, do the research before handing over the bucks!

The black felt is also is big giveaway on the tab. The construction of the back is also incorrect.

Thanks to everybody for their input. I've always primarily collected Wehrmacht, Political and Heimatfront items (easier to find, cheaper), and have very little SS in my collection...But I love the learning and research.

Dont waste your money.
So many people want to sell us fake items for big money.
