    Hi,

Apologies I put a thread in the wrong place!?

I am still learning my way around the forum and apologise for not using correct terminology, correct threads etc.

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if the enclosed SS Totenkopf is real or fake?

Apparently is a ground dug example but I think is a bit heavy or the thickness is a bit over what should be expected?

    Many thanks

Hello again, I commented on your other thread. I've been looking at a lot of known examples of this maker and feel this may be no good. Detail lacking, rusted, and metal seems off as you said. If you search this site with the name I gave you should be able to compare and get a good idea.

    Hi Toffster.
No doubt this is a orginal M1/24 Overhoff skull.
Im thinking this is a cleaned dug.
    Fantastic skull.
Pure astethic not like Barok style Deschler.
Dont warry about the thick walls this type skull have it.
Rust in this type skull dug is very common .
Only the pins look liittle strange- so shiny (maybe someone polisched them tfui tfui tfui) or replaced them. Also they dont have little 3 cuts on surface like on mine skull. This cuts are very characteristic for Overhoff pins of skull

Here is one same type dug from my collection
Overhoff produced also another patern skull wery simmilar to this one.
If I make pics I will post one of them

Glad to hear it's a good one! Quick question after the M, is the 1 there? I can't see it in the pictures. Cal, thanks for the info. I didn't know these were known to rust and was under the opinion that the material used for this didn't. At least I got the maker correct!

Add: Might want to ask a mod to merge the two threads for future research by others.

    Thankyou very much gentlemen.

At least I have now 2 x original third reich accoutrements and at least 1 x original decoration (so far confirmed by the forum)!!!

I like your skull too Calvaria. Would like it for my collection anytime!

Thanks for all the advice and youthcollector1 for your help in getting me onto the right track checking some previous 'Hoffers" out on the forum for comparison, though the affirmation from people on the forum is a better answer than making up my own mind!

Thanks again guys, I am very grateful.
