    I agree with the philosophy of buying from reputable dealers with guarantees. I'm mainly an American Civil War collector and that's exactly what I do. The seller of this item happens to be a friend of mine, which was wny I was considering it, but I had conserns. Hence, my posting on this forum. Thanks for all the input!

    Hopefully he wasn't expecting you to pay much for it - unless he
    thinks it is good. Not much of a friend if he knows it's a fake
    and was asking a lot.........!

    There is nothing to moderate- copy must cost as a copy, and there no problem to find them on a reenactors sites.

    good that you posted it first. your friend may simply be inexperienced and unaware.

    but, in the end, there is much wisdom in what Paul E and Dimas have said.

    SS cloth is a minefield. Study always and as you do, defer always to those who have studied more.

    i think this is the formula for success.
