An officer's Sonderanfertigung cap of very early make from Hamburg.
An officer's Sonderanfertigung cap of very early make from Hamburg.
Its "scull".....for you "scull" persons.
I did not pry it off knowing what tragedy would ensue.
Here is the RZM tag in the cap at the head of this thread. This species of black tag is faked, of course, as are most of these tags to be sure. I did not examine this piece other than in photographs.
A not dissimilar tag in a cap of similar date of make.
This cap here was the property of an SSTV officer. It was mistakenly sold as the property of an Allgem. SS officer.
The devil is in the detail with these things, is it not?
Allgemeine is a word frequently misspelled here.
Here is an example of my fine photography before I gave up on my camera. You can see why.
This is a Wille Sonderanfertigung.
It has a non SS chin strap, but is a wonderful piece which I first bought in the middle 1970s and was able to secure again a few years ago.
The cap is dated 1937.

Its interior is similar to this piece of Robert H, whom we do not see here anymore.
What I may have learned: Sonderanfertigung visors were made by several hatters, including Wille and Mueller. These visors are a premium version of the dienstmütze.
The orange cloth version is of lesser quality and is an "issue" item.
Some questions: were the sonderanfertigung visors sold through private retailers, or ordered through a local SS quartermaster (both I imagine.)
How does the kleiderkasse system relate to all this?
Why do SS visors lack manufacturer logos in the sweat diamonds?
Are all officer grade sonderanfertigungen lined with black rayon versus the white rayon of the NCO visors.
Are the answers in the Uniformen Markt CDs?

A Mueller cap with the logo ca. 1935/6. This cap is in the Wilkins book. This kind of Mueller logo is also faked, but this cap is quite real, in fact.
08/15 officer's cap ca. 1938/39 also made by Mueller in Munich.
This is NOT a Sonderanfertigung cap.
Others would call it "textbook," but not I.
You will also not find such information as this on the lord of the flies site, either.
