Black SS cap w/o RZM/SS marks

This piece appeared on the lord of the flies site, but has some merit. It is without the normal markings, and is of higher quality than the average RZM contracted piece. Notice the low cap cover. I will not speculate about the originality of the badges to the cap, but they well could be thus. There are enough authentic examples of said caps with NSDAP or Behoerden Hoheitszeichen. Some will be put off by the lack of stamps, marks, et cetera, but not me. The strong point of this cap is its cap cover, which fits to the rest of it, I think.

Not "textbook" as deemed by some savants and terrible simplifiers, but authentic which is, in fact, the only decisive criterion imaginable.

another piece from C Wagner with a leather peak. It has no marks, save an early C Wagner logo. This interior is very close to the early Sonderanfertigung caps for officers. The cap was the property of an academic or medical doctor.

Also note that such data as is contained here is not found on the lord of the flies site.

early caps of the contract variety tend to have this melton cap cover and band. But Trikot is within the realm of the possible, especially in a cap specially made or purchased or whatever riddle connected to these things. The Trikot cloth apparently (W. Saris) became regulation ca. 1935, but was surely used from the outset.

as concerns lining of the Wagner cap and the Sonderanfertigung, a comparison below. How and when these personages, one of whom was either a professor or a doctor and the other "ein alter Marschierer" of the Allgemeine SS purchased these caps and how they survive until 2009, such is a mystery. You will also notice that I have not busted off the cap badges and have not speculated on who made the badges or when. ".....Es ist mir scheissegal."

a cap ca 1935 of trikot. Unlike the piece at the head of this thread, it is marked with the stamps etc. Happy headwear to all seekers of truth, however arcane.
