Sure, Studies. Its a good way to learn. The pieces you often show are very hard to come by. Especially certain black woolens. This early style cap you started the thread off with is for sure very rare. When you also give additional photos, one can study stitching, patterns, and many other various details. So yeah, studies are a great word for it.

Great thread! I'm starting to get a taste for acquiring one of these super early black pieces...

I noticed the thread on the grey visor caps is now closed, but I had wanted to ask a question or two about those caps. For instance, what time period can we ascribe to each example that was shown? -- noting their different materials and forms, I wondered if there was a specific correlation to a year or period of years (i.e. VT period vs 1940-42 period etc.) This type of info would be helpful to my further learing on these.
