Interesting CT, and interesting thread, gents.
Very interesting thread & content. Thanks for sharing.
Always nice, when forum members take the extra time to research a relic and then further 'flesh out' the relic/background etc. Much appreciated.
Weber from what I have found and read was a thug of a man, who used his position of power to his own end. It sounds no different than politicians or high government officials of today actually from what I have read. He was one of the original who changed the course of history, and no doubt had an evil influence on the fates of many.
Sadly, I believe you are correct in your summation.
I hope you enjoyed my little show.
I for one enjoyed it immensely.
Here are two further works in which the criminal aspect of Weber is well examined. These are scholarly books, truth be told, without nice color pictures of cuff titles, but if you have a serious interest in the man's biography, these works are of great merit. Weber is on the cover of Bajohr book. The Bajohr book is entitled Parvenus and Profiteers, which is self explanatory, and the Selig book is on the state and party organized theft of Jewish property in Munich. Weber was a key figure in this process, in fact.
This is also an apolitical website, and comparisons with the present are perhaps a source of emotional satisfaction, but such things do not constitute the rationale for this site. Weber's deeds eclipse much of anything that I can see in the present in North America and Europe, though perhaps some loose comparison exists elsewhere, but I will leave that to others.
Weber was a man of modest social origins in a time of chaos and upheaval, in which the world of estate and class was turned upside down in total war and revolution. He had lived in the deep and dark shadow of those he envied, and was able through fate to hoist himself into a position of prestige and rank via violent and despicable means. In this, he is a fascinating figure of central European history. If total war and chaos reemerge in our lives or those of who follow us, then others will do as Weber did, of that you can be certain.
FB . . . pardon my deviation from the root topic of this discussion . . . but I have to ask - where and how do you come across SO MANY newly created texts in Deutsch, all seeming to be focused on the examination the NS period in Deutschland? For all that you seem to promote, I am beginning to get the feel that the rumored resurgence of study and examination of this subject in the home-country is truly genuine - do you feel this is so?
Very nicely presented Doug, and a terrific CT.........!
Regards,
Steve.
I'm not sure he had a staff. From what I have read Fegelein was commander of the school and Weber was appointed Inspector. The title has a roughly 2 cm addition to it, to fit a very large sleeve.

For years, there has been a persistent rumor that after the war, 3 Jewish American film stars purchased Brigadefuhrer Weber's personal riding horse...
