Thanks for the additional material. The Prunk and Glanz were based on state terror and the rise to position of authority of persons, who in a normal state and society, would have always stayed glued to the margins. Such speaks to this year, the centenary of the world war, and the event with its consequences that made all this possible. There is a fine literature on the so called "schoener Schein" of the III. Reich, which has lost little of its power. These persons of the margins aped the habits and norms of the old elites, who were pitched out by the war and its upheaval. One also needs here the catalogue of the Munich, the Hauptstadt der Bewegung exhibition of a decade and more ago, which also treats all of this. Maybe Andreas owns it, as I do not.

F-B you are very correct! It is one thing to support habits and norms of the old elites if you support them and another to pull them down as corrupt and then try to be them. That is part of the reasons for this, I also think this and other similar events was an attempt to move the German people toward a so-called pre-Christian culture. I fully believe you can enjoy the pageantry of the National Socialist and not support their political & social ideas.

Thanks, Andreas, a wonderful intervention. Bonze is a wonderful word, and you translate it well. We have a plentitude of Bonzen, today, who manifest many of the worst traits, and none of the redeeming ones. Bonzen in Bavaria and Austria have their own special poetry.

A reflection on Karl Valentin does more for the psyche and spirit than especially the repugnant figures associated with the equestrian SS.

Well this is useful, I am working on a project (a fan/player mod free for download) that educates about the Second World War while playing a WWII computer wargame called 'Hearts of Iron 3'. School history is often boring to many people we need to find other ways to teach history. Most likely the poster had the nude woman on the horse and was similar to the brochure. We must not forget the lessons that lead to the tragedy of the Second World War.

I hope in your history project you also make clear what were the results of all of this in the succeeding years, especially for those with no background in the material.

Basically it is thanking Weber on the occasion of the 5th Brown Ribbon Event for his outstanding services to German Racing and thoroughbred breeding.
