Dachau portrait, courtesy Delich & BundeDachau portrait, courtesy Delich & BundeHere are other images Bauer apparently made of a mental asylum as a contrast to the super human SS guards....Such images were staples of regime
propaganda in support of the law against "erbkranker Nachwuchs," which was the first in a series of steps that eventually led to mass murder of the mentally impaired under the T4 program, which, in turn, led to the
mass murder in the conquest of Europe.....

One of you can date this image, which is, I think, one of the Atelier Bauer.
Judging from the "D" collar patch, the white collar patch piping and the lack of escutcheons on the steel helmet I would date it to the 1933 - 1934 period.

I'm confused; what does that have to do with the subject at hand?

The images are from the SS photo studio F. Bauer. The addition of the image of the three Staffelmaenner of SS PB 1 and or SS VT 1 1934 or 1935 is from the same source.

Bauer was a Munich outfit which photographed the rise of the SS organization in a formative period, and also served the propaganda goals of the SS in ways
beyond these heroic images. The account of this organization is in the work of Kaienburg, included above.....
