How the tunic was found in Mr. Delich's own words, which I include here.
".....To answer the question someone asked about my source on
the SS Italien Obersturmfuhrer tunic. I had a friend, now
deceased, who had several items he wanted me to sell for
him. One was a Panzer general wrapper, another a Luftwaffe
lieutenant's formal wear with trousers, a Police general's
visor and the Italien tunic. I was told that if I could sell the
first three items, he would give me the Italian Ss tunic. This
The Italian tunic has a mfg.'s tag in the neck along with
the owner's name, which I have reproduced here. As
far as I can make out, his name was Franco. I hope that this is sufficient, as it's all I have to pass on about this tunic."
Thus one has a sense of the wide open horizons of an earlier age when such things were plentiful and somewhat more than rags.
This is very nice. Please extend our thanks for his time in providing the provenance of this rare and special item.
WoW! That is a rare tunic! Thank you for showing it
A very very special piece in my eyes. I do not collect SS anymore, but this is absolutely an item that would fit perfectly into my humble collection.
Collect ROA, Cossack, Schuma and other WW2 Volunteer militaria.
"Be Humble and kind, for you may find that it was Odin you entertained"
"Thus one has a sense of the wide open horizons of an earlier age when such things were plentiful and somewhat more than rags. "
Words that speak to a time younger collectors will never understand. It was a time of few fakes, few seekers and plentiful material.
LIFE'S LOSERS NEVER LEARN FROM THE ERROR OF THEIR WAYS.
I believe that Friedrich-Berthold's post on the Italian SS tunic may have been prompted by a question from me - I regret that I have only just now noticed it and must apologise that my thanks are offered so late. I am, however most grateful to him and Mr. Delich for the details about this remarkable piece. Regards, PMC
We aim to please....
