Early Allgemeine SS Tunic

This early tunic was found together with the other items during a house clearance in Germany. All the insignia (except the Kampfbinde) were found in the breast pocket of the tunic. The tunic is completely untouched. The tunic belonged to a member of the 55. SS-Standarte, from whom the NSDAP-Parteibuch, Wehrpass, SA-Sportabzeichen-Urkunde and a photo in uniform was found as well. In the uniform there are no tags or markings. The buttons are all original sewed in and are rzm-marked with maker s&c Extra Fein (Schmöle&Co, Menden). It seems that there was no piping at the collar, because there are no residues of the sewing cotton. From the other insignia, also from the Kampfbinde you can find these residues at the tunic. Interesting is as well, that the tunic has only 3 buttons at the front, instead of 4. I intend to complete the tunic with an early visor-cap and an early shoulder board with black and white piping.

if he was in the SS.why go into the army ?.maybe he did not like what he saw later when the party was all powerful and quit the SS.

Being a member of the Allgemeine SS did not naturally qualify an individual to become a member of the Waffen SS. There are many things in play that could explain being in the Heer. Induction, physical age, physical condition could be a few of the reasons the man did not qualify for the Waffen SS.
