Let FB weigh in but none of the cap shows patina to be expected either on the leather sweatband, interior or insignia.
Thanks to my friend in Texas. This cap appeared in Scandinavia and went to a leading collector in Canada. Or a cap identical to it.
The cap had the early and the later set of badges when it first appeared.
It is 100% real and well preserved. If my colleague in Germany does not want it, I'd take it happily.
Shea had one similar to it.

If FB gives it the thumbs up then that's good enough for me.
Once more, my salute to Texas and my thanks to a fine, fine colleague.
This cap appeared some years ago. I kept images of it, but my new computer has jumbled my picture files.
I wish my Texan friends a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Some of these very early caps survive in fine preservation.
Thanks to my fine colleagues, especially FB, for their help and very valuable additional information. I was looking for some time for a real and nice early cap. I'm pleased and happy to be part in such a fruitfull forum.
Regards
Stefan
Great cap! I have yet to find one of these for my collection.
Best,
