A friend has asked me to post this early full face TK, it’s a Totenkopfverbände, 2 Standarten Brandenburg (Buchenwald), a rare collar but it looks pretty good.
Came in a small group from his friend who’s dad was a veteran.
    Thanks for looking.

    Great tab Chris.

Pardon my ignorance but isnt the 2. Standarte Berlin Brandenburg ?

Buchenwald is about 187 miles southwest of Berlin. I never heard of a Buchenwald Brandenburg Standarte.
Again my apologies and invite correction. Im quite sure some of the researched Gents will reply.

You might be correct Larry, I had some difficulty narrowing down this tab.
The SS-TV structure changed in 1937 from Sturmbanne (battalions) to Standarten (regiments) I believe this was when this early collar was introduced.
    Cloth Insignia of the SS (Angolia) says , SS-TV 1: Oberbayern (Dauchau) , SS-TV 2: Brandenburg (Buchenwald) , SS-TV 3: Thüringen (Sachsenhausen)
But I know Angolia isn't always correct.
My main concern was over originality and it looks to have passed that test.
Thank you all for looking and the replies.

This pattern collar patch was introduced in 1935 and replaced by the more familiar skull in 1936. The number indicates the company (Hundertschaft). In this case it’s for one of the companies that made up SS-Wachtruppe “Ostfriesland”.

Got some better photos today, it looks like in an Officers collar as the TK and Number are in silver thread, he said it was cold to the touch.
