    Thank you, Ben. There was also an officer's cap via Stockholm that appeared on the larceny site recently. I will find images of it. And, Maederer had the black field cap for an officer, which is the predecessor of them all.

    Thanks to Mr. Arran for sharing his fine pieces, even if they have moved to another collection.

    Although its not easy to see in the pics, I believe that the label in the one I had reads VA 78/38 SS. I know of one officer's cloth bill in black, residing in Japan, which has a similar sweat diamond with VA SS label underneath. I also once had an earth grey overseas cap with the same type of label and no other markings...

    It is a beauty, very similar to the one on page 37 of the Beaver/Shea SS headgear book. Unfortunately, I'm not permitted to share pictures of this collection, but it is staggering!

    I believe this is the same one that I pictured above. I got it from John from just outside Portland...
