The fake RZM tag is as old as our subject.
For those put out by this arcane subject, here is what said thing should like in reality....

Very true. There were "supposedly" fake RZM tags around in the mid 1930`s, according to the RZM. Although i view that in a different light to what many others would, and would attribute the few announcements by the RZM pertaining to this as possible invented propaganda, or at best an overinflated account of the actual event(s).
My generalizations are based on the RZM Mitteilungsblaetter. No doubt this source is not without its problems, but if you have additional primary sources of note, we'd be happy to see them.
