Just curious...what is the give away for that MIP?
Shape of the Runes, the woolen cloth and backing buckram material.
Cheers, Ade.
Thanks Ade...
So..what I see is the runes are a bit too long?
the cloth is just a bit too course..?
..and the buckram material is kind of mashed flat...?
(...when the corners on the back are glues down like that...is that a problem? Sometimes I see them sewn or glued..just wondering)
I realize you cats have been looking at this sort of thing for years and that this is a walk in the park for you. I can see there is trouble...but how did you guys get Pakistan? That just amazes me, to be that "up on it" that it's possible to even know the area in the world.
Man, you guys should be able to get organized and actually finger the forger, and drop a dime on them soon eh?
You are on the right track with your observations.
Much reproduction bullion insignia is made in Pakistan. Some of it is actually nicely done. Labour is cheap over there of course. Many British dealers have there stuff made there. I know this first hand from a dealer who legimatly had them done to sell as fakes.
I have shown my tab before a couple of times, but here it is again so you can compare good with bad.
Is there some difference with corners on the back being sewn together, or glued down? Your tab is hard to see..as it was removed from an album and bits of paper are still there?
I'm guessing here.
It's very clear about the buckram being wrong in the first example. Is yours typical? Was there other styles?
Sorry for all the questions.
