The M43 hat have a chance to be a Jager muetze, but not a M 43, please give to it right shape, and make a new picture.
I'am still with a doubts about the cufftitle attachment. But all other insignia seems a period to the tunic

All of this stuff is original and untouched..... I don't understand why you would think that a person who could care less about the uniform and would have thrown it away if he would have found it himself would sew a cuff title on a SS uniform his dad brought home from the war. The hats have not been touched sense his dad put the stuff in the trunk except he said his brother and him used to take them out when they would play WAR and his brother would dress up like a German. Anyway for your request I will reshape the m43 cap so you can see it how it would have been worn.

Ryan, there was not alot of US stuff in the trunk just a visor and overseas cap that were moth eaten and this green shirt that seems to be maybe a late war shirt with a lot of stitching where it has been ripped. I almost didn't want to show the overseas cap because it is a private purchase cap with infantry piping. The chocolate brown is like an officers cap and the vet was a PFC so I know people are going to question it, but I have seen many US groupings with enlisted men that had this type of overseas cap with the uniform. Anyway it all came together so here you go!

Also if anyone has a 2nd ID unit history I would love to see if he is in the roster!!!

I have seen a lot of upgraded stuff in the end of 1940's. But the hat looks like original Geb jager cap, not a M 43

A mountain troops cap has a different visor and fewer buttons to the ear flap.
And a mountain troop cap for the SS is a pretty desirable thing.
