My friend in Texas is trying to find the one that got away. A noble pursuit.
I sold my collection in 1980 and then bought most of it back in the late 1990s for a considerable mark up.
I have just seen perhaps one of the most authoritative and impressive military collections in the northern hemisphere, and it has none or nearly none of the items I collect.
This fact leads me to believe that there is rather less of these items left on earth than I thought, and what we show here is fairly unique and precious.
Persons reach a certain age and then invest a great deal of energy in the project of memory and longing, with all its associated emotions.
Nostalgia is one part of this process. I salute my colleague in Texas for his attempt to find lost items from the past. It is a noble pursuit.
