Re: grey SS cap ca. 1938/9
Extremely interesting indeed: the Imperial (and I assume) the Weimar's Reichwehr feldgrau uniforms usually showed a 'greyer' hue than the 1934-36 feldbluse (with it's green/blueish tint). And you could not be more right about the almost never ending variety of 'feldgrau' both before the 3rd Reich and between 1934 and 1945. No matter what, I like your hat VERY MUCH.

Dear Sir, thanks. I own several army caps, and not one is the same color as the other. Nor are the grey SS caps I own, and I have seven, I think, all the same color, either. I have no good camera. What is also striking is how black the original SS textile is in my cloth book, darker, richer black than the uniforms....which, of course, is no mystery, since the things are seventy five years old and more.
I am glad you like the cap. I am lucky that a major collection got broken up and I could buy it in a complicated and lengthy deal. my best to you all, in grey....

thanks. It is indeed the same cap. It came from an advanced collector, some of whose things I got.
Unused the cap is also not, in fact. It was surely used, but not over used and worn out the way most grey SS caps frequently are. At least it was stored well, which is the key.
I am happy to share in polite and gentle circumstances. All the best to Italy.

FB, next time I am 'here and there', I really want to pay you and your caps a visit.
I will bring a gift. Perhaps a garden gnome will suffice?

Thank you, indeed. I am glad there is some merit in it all. Sometimes, in the past, with the other site, I despaired of the whole thing.
