    Thank you F-B, HPL2008 and Mr. d'alquen for your contribution to this thread. I imagine that Mr d'alquen is correct and the photo shows a member of the Austrian Legion. Here are some further photos of Austrian SS members pulled from the internet some time in the past.

    Very nice images. Do read the Rothlaender book about these people. It is quite revealing. The large handkerchief will make more sense, then....

    It is not a collector, picture book. It is a scholarly work, but it is one the best books I have ever read on the SS.

    The work also underscores the terrorist character of the Austrian SS.
