Dr. Max Werner is NOT in this picture. Due to global warming, such snows showers seldom eventuate any longer in Berlin on 1 May. The world had less CO two in the atmosphere in the spring of 1935. It has been snowing in Berlin recently, though, if you look at Deutsche Welle.

Why does not someone post some nice, authentic SS regalia here?

This is an image of authentic SS regalia, which does have a connection to Dachau, actually. It was not found in a way boss Reisekoffer with someone's sinister, central casting name on it, either. It is a foetid woolen, as you can see.

He is in the Dienstalterliste of 1938/9 in the staff of Abschnitt I of the Allgemeine SS.

Those interested can see his dates of rank, and his orders and decorations in the Biblio Verlag reprint of said document.

This attached picture is NOT of Dr. Max Werner's hat. It is of a Heidelberger/Badenese SS officer who was or was not tried and executed for the illegal execution of USAAF fliers.

I include some real SS material, because we have had a drought of same here and it makes me hysterical.
For those who care, Abschnitt I was HQ'd in Munich, I believe.

I just came across this thread--"drwerner" is obviously an amateur when it comes to both faking items and then trying troll on this, the most advanced SS forum on the web. I don't even collect the trash he is pushing, and I recognized most of it instantly as 2nd-rate repros.

drwerner, I recommend that you find another way to make a di living--you aren't cutting it in the field of militaria, thats for sure.

So as to raise the discourse here to a higher plain, herewith is one of the most melodic phrases in German.

In reading the Herstellungsvorschriften der RZM with great care, now that I own then, the addition of the gummipolster to the rear of the sweat band was required as of 1936 for pretty much all peaked caps so described therein. A remarkable and little understood aspect of Nazi governance.

I shall ask my wife to inscribe this phrase of my tomb, such as it will be, when the time has come.
Now that is the funniest comment I have heard/read all day!

Hats can be inherently funny, you know.

We live in a world in which humor has been debased, to be sure.

So much of life today is so patently ridiculous and absurd that humor is the only sane response versus homicide or animal pornography, don't you think?

The sad thing about this thread is the high readership it has apparently enjoyed, versus the more staid, down-to-earth, let-us-cite-primary-sources-and-reflect-about-regalia threads that some of us have tried to write and which elicit at best a very modest response.

It is akin to watching helicopter pictures of police car chases and not nearly as edifying, especially in the holiday season.

PS something that is also not very funny is that I owned three Pz berets (as in this picture...) and I sold all of them for too little money! It was nice one, nicht wahr?
