    Hi Ado, while Mametz is correct in what he is saying, here in England we have a saying. "It's not what you know, but who you know". A good friend of mine has compiled a database of SS-ZA numbers taken directly from SS personel files. I will ask if he has this number listed.

    I was looking through this old thread. I just got this pin. It is in pretty bad shape and looks like the number was scratched off! I am going to take some better photos soon.

    These pins. Do they always have a number at the back? My friend has one with a blank back, and I've seen one being sold for over 300 dollars, also with a blank back

    Welcome to the forum!

    A blank reverse would be a fake. They were ALWAYS maker marked and serial number. Price advertised at or even sold, does not make it real.

    This is a textbook piece at a fair price IMO.

    authentic pieces will always be marked for either Hoffstätter of Bonn or for the firm of Gahr (scarce)
