I am not an expert in these items, but I think they are junk.
Fakes,sorry.
Thank you both for your answers! That's what I was thinking...
Here is the analysis of David Delich on this score.....
"...Here is a pic of an LAH post-war copy (Panzer piping) and
a genuine LAH specimen with white piping for your
inspection. Note the rough, less than smooth execution
of the border aroune the perimeter of each letter. Also
the uneven thickness of the small horizontal lines within
the letters themselves on the copy -- and the completely
even and superior execution of the stamping of the genuine
item.
I'm attempting to locate a pic I have of an NCO aluminum
cypher like these, but have been unable to locate it. If
I can find it, I will send. It show more detail yet.
If the photos appear to be of poor quality, I can
attempt clearer images. ..."
I had the alu ciphers for the LAH NCO as part of a lot of Dachau ware house swag in the year 1971. All long, long gone.
Thanks to David Delich for his kind aid.
Thank you FB for this great information! It's really helpful. I appreciate.
Thank you to David too of course.
Thanks to F-B and Mr. Delich for sharing your collection and expertise. I often wonder if the folks asking these questions realize that they are receiving info and advice from some of the foremost collectors and scholars.
