Congratulations on the find of a lifetime, it's very exciting so thanks for sharing it with us.
In regards to the Customs visor cap, it's missing the wreath and kokarde and needs the peak sewn back on. However, after restoration, it still wouldn't be worth that much, maybe 300 dollars, so for that reason, personally I would just leave it as it is and keep it along with the tunic and Ike jacket. If you can get the original mail box as well that would be perfect. Keep them together as a group of items exactly as they were found.
My next step would be to enquire about the vet and the possibility of meeting him and hearing/recording his story. It would add tremendous historical value to the tunic. Don't be too pushy about it though, just make the suggestion known and let the vet decide if he would like to share his wartime experiences.
This is the wreath which is missing from the Zoll cap.
Cheers, Ade.

awesome find there cat
veeerrryy jealous. The black and the white summer uniforms of the early ss was what got me into ww2 history
and collecting in the first place. So great to see a real part of that history....
That white tunic is amazing. Beautiful. The catch of a lifetime. Wouldn't it be nice if it could be established to whom it belonged?
This case shows why one should keep up the effort with all of this. Extraordinary piece.
