Hello Francesco. I have decided not to sew any of the insignia on this tunic, instead I just place pieces of insignia on it and display them for awhile until I decide to create another look. Here are a few pictures of it as it now is displayed as a radio SS-Oberschütze with "Götz von Berlichingen" ... nothing sewn on.

Beautiful condition tunic! And some nice looking insignia and badges as well! What is the grade of the Close Combat in the second photo? William

Thanks Mike for bringing up this old thread.

The tunic is the classic SS pattern. Note the five button front, two holes for the belt ramp support hooks. Also note the lining to the inside and the cut of this on the lower left side and how this set at an angle.

Very nice tunic and I applaud you for not making it (permanently) into anything it was not during wartime.

How clever to use various insignia for display pruposes. It also demonstrates you have very good taste in authentic SS cloth insignia. It is always a joy to see authentic SS tunics.

Thank you William. Are you speaking of the pocket badge on the Heer tunic? If so that is a nice JFS General Assault Badge which has a darkened patina from age.

Thanks for your comments Bob. I have really struggled with this because I've always wanted a nice NCO tunic and just have not been able to attain it. I purchased all original NCO tresse for the collar and a near mint set of BeVo flat wire tabs for a Unterscharführer with the intent of actually doing what you appreciate I didn't do. In the end I just can't bring myself to Frankenstein this tunic so I lay the insignia on it as you see. The nap of the Italian wool actually holds the insignia on kinda like velcro.

OK .... that's a bronze clasp.
